The hand drawn perspective captures Blast Furnace No.4 at Port Talbot Steelworks. Growing up in South Wales, the steelworks were a constant presence on the skyline. The billowing white clouds of steam, chimneys and furnaces could be seen from miles around. The blast furnaces in particular were always objects of fascination; incredibly intricate structures with their labyrinthine steel frames intertwined with a complex network of ducts and pipework. It was a delight spending over 3 months illustrating one of these beautiful monuments of industry. The limited-edition architectural illustration is signed, numbered and dated.
There are two sizes available:
30cm x 30cm (11.8in x 11.8in)
50cm x 50cm (19.7in x 19.7in)
The smaller format drawing (30cm x 30cm) is printed onto 250gsm Tintoretto Gesso Paper, a slightly off-white paper with a lightly hammered surface texture. The illustration is packaged with a sturdy grey-board backing and sealed inside a cellophane case.
The larger format drawing (50cm x 50cm) is printed onto 220gsm Cartridge Paper, a similar slightly off-white paper with a lightly hammered surface texture. The illustration is carefully rolled, cellophane wrapped and posted inside a sturdy cardboard tube.
